This is achived by cross-referencing huge numbers of searches with huge numbers of Web pages and analysing the cross-referencing history over a period of time. As more and more data is analysed, gradually patterns form indicating which pages tend to be relevant to particular searches.

Though the algorithm is static, the relevancy of the system therefore improves as more data is processed.
